The House of Commons' Parliamentary Committee on Finance invited Canadian Doctors for Medicare to participate in their consultation hearings. Dr. Monika Dutt, Chair of the CDM board, presented to the committee via videoconference on February 16.
In her remarks, Monika asked the federal government to:
- Enforce the Canada Health Act and close any loopholes that may allow for-profit clinics to violate its intent;
- Demonstrate leadership and vision by reopening health accord negotiations with provinces and territories; and
- Support the provincial and territorial health ministers’ initiative to develop and implement a national pharmacare strategy.
Canadian Doctors for Medicare is grateful for this opportunity to present to the House of Commons standing Committee on Finance. The full submissions to the committee are available in English and French below.
